Team Tryouts

Entry Fees: $10 payable to the Nebraska Tennis Association, if your entry is post marked by January 4, $15 after that date or if you bring your entry to the tryout site.( If you are trying out for both 10’s & 12’s. you only pay one fee).

Purpose: The tryouts will be used to help Nebraska choose the team for the USTA/Missouri Valley Sectional 12 & under event to be held in Oklahoma City, set for Memorial Day Weekend in May.

Format & Selection Criteria: A committee of coaches will choose 16 boys and 16 girls during the tryout phase, to determine who will participate in a round robin tournament to be held on the two weekends of Friday, Saturday & Sunday, February 6-8, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, February 20-22, 2009. Anyone returning from the top ten Nebraska traveling team from last year will not be required to tryout, but will be required to play in the February tournament, unless the player was one of the top 2 of the 5 top players on last year’s lineup. A USTA membership is required for the round robin tournament.(no membership required for the tryouts). Results from the round robin tournament will determine the top 8 boys and top 8 girls to go to Oklahoma City.

Where & When: Tryouts will be January 17 at Hanscom Tennis Center, Omaha from 2pm – 4pm, and on January 18 at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln from 12:30pm – 1:30pm, and at the Nebraska Tennis Center from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. Kearney tryouts will be January 11^{th, times} to be determined, & Fremont will also have tryouts at the Fremont Y, TBA. Players only need to attend 1 tryout session. Eligibility: You must be 12 until May 31, 2009 to participate in the 12 event in Oklahoma City. You must live in Nebraska or Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
